| "We would like to thank you for PWA's outstanding work over the past five years. The South Bay Salt Ponds Project is successfully moving in to Phase 1 restoration due in no small part to the high quality work of PWA and its subcontractors. It has been a pleasure working with PWA on this project" - Meghan Moda Conservation Program Administrator Resources Legacy Fund |
ESA PWA specializes in planning and implementing multi-objective projects to restore and enhance wetland systems. Our approach is to integrate an understanding of the physical and biological processes to develop a sustainable project in collaboration with agencies, stakeholders, and scientific advisors. We have extensive restoration expertise that extends from initial restoration planning through environmental compliance documentation, permitting, preparation of design drawings and specifications, construction observation, and post-project monitoring.
ESA PWA pioneered some of the earliest tidal wetland restoration plans in the 1970s and has completed over 400 wetland restoration assessments, plans, and designs. PWA has assisted our clients in planning most of the major tidal marsh restorations in San Francisco Bay – such as the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project, Napa River Salt Marsh Restoration, and Crissy Field – as well as major restorations along the Pacific west coast from San Diego Bay to Puget Sound. In 2004, PWA published a set of Tidal Wetland Restoration Design Guidelines, which has been widely distributed and used by restoration practitioners.
